COMPANY BACKGROUND
Diane’s Beachwear began in Spring of 1962. The first store opened was Mickie’s Swim Shop located next to the Manhattan Beach Pier in Southern California. It was a tiny 150 square foot store opened by Diane’s mother, Mickie Bandle. The store was outgrown in a very short period of time and was relocated to a larger location just one block up.
Diane’s custom made bikinis were the talk of the town. Each customer was fitted right there in the store and the bikini was then hand-sewn just above the store. The daring bikinis were 1” below the waist with crossover, reversible triangle tops which were all the rage in 1962! Little girls could also have a suit custom made to match their mom.
Realizing this company was a unique specialty retailer that was in demand by women, the company began to expand. Diane Biggs took over the company and grew the number of locations to 16 throughout Southern California and an E-Commerce Website. Diane’s tremendous success within the beachwear industry is due to the Company’s true passion for swimwear and dedication to its customer base.
DIANE’S DIVISIONS
Diane’s understands the diverse market in the beachwear industry. In order to provide the ultimate wardrobe for all women, Diane’s sectioned out three divisions – Diane’s Beachwear, Beach Fever and Bikini. Regardless of the division, each store carries a variety of merchandise that is bought to suit the needs of the individual market. However, each division has a designed likeness that can be found in each of its locations.

Diane’s Beachwear stores are the foundation of the company. Each store has a large selection of mix & match separates, cover-ups, accessories, sportswear and a wide variety of brands. Common brands found at Diane’s locations include: Sunsets, Swim Systems, Lucy Love, Roxy, Billabong and Vix. Some of Diane’s stores now carry ‘Kid’s Beachwear’ and ‘Men’s Beachwear’ to suit the ultimate beachwear family!
BEACH FEVER
Beach Fever is the most Junior Division out of the three. These stores tend to carry a lot of surfy yet fashion-forward brands such as: Billabong, Roxy, Hurley, Rip Curl and Body Glove. Although young and surfy is the theme of these stores, don’t be surprised to find some super cute fashion pieces from Vix and Salinas! Currently Diane’s has two stores that fall into the Beach Fever division – the corner store located in Manhattan Beach, CA and the other is located in The Galleria @ Tyler in Riverside, California. You will find a Diane’s Beachwear store conveniently located close by to both of these stores.
BIKINI
Bikini is Diane’s newest endeavor! This division is the ultimate Resort Boutique that has a European flare. Bikini stores are the most upscale out of any of Diane’s other boutiques. Top brands include: Donna Karan, Michael Kors, Shan, Sky, Salinas and Vix. Customer’s can find anything for their ideal resort vacation including the best beachwear accessories, pareos, monokinis, bikinis and high-end flip flops.
